Career Development in the MENA

Career development can play a pivotal role in reaching business objectives, as well as drive higher employee engagement. MENA professionals take a broad view of their own career development. This includes everything from looking for ways to become more efficient in performing current responsibilities to training and activities in the context of a potential or future role.

NGT has conducted a new survey entitled ‘Career Development in the MENA’ to underscore the high demand for training opportunities at the present stage within and beyond the traditional workplace.

Key Findings:

  • 93% of respondents share the willingness to receive a formal career development plan.
  • Over 9 in 10 respondents (91%) are trying to identify learning opportunities inside and outside of their company.
  • 59% of professionals state their role is a good match to their abilities.
  • 55% say they already formally set development plans with their manager.
  • Technical/ job-related skills (18%) emerged as the most important training area for career development, followed by team management skills (14%).

Data for the NGT ‘Career Development in the MENA’ survey was collected online from September 11th to October 10th 2022. Results are based on a sample of 1,280 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia among others.
